Work Visa Algeria

About

Foreign nationals who have work contracts not exceeding 3 months are issued temporary work visas to Algeria. If work consists of more than 3 months, then they will need a work visa. This visa is a provisional work authorization delivered by the services in charge of employment in Algeria.

Also, a certificate is given by the employment services according to which the employer is undertaking all the financial responsibilities for the return of the employees to their country once the working contract is over.

Eligibility

Anyone applying for this visa needs to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Foreign nationals who have the authorization to work for short or long term
  • Having the valid documents to prove the purpose of traveling to Algeria
  • Eligible to bear the expenses of travel and stay
  • Valid reasons to return to your country
  • A clean criminal record and may have to provide a PCC – Police Clearance Certificate
  • Health should meet the requirements of authorities

Process

How to Apply

Processing of Algerian work visa depends upon the way of applying. For instance;

  • Applying in person: An employee can submit the documents in person at the Algerian embassy/consulate office. For applying in this way, the applicant should make an appointment with the consulate in the relevant region. An applicant may be asked several questions regarding the purpose of visit, source of income, or any kind of personal questions.
  • Submission by mail: Algerian work visa applications can also be submitted by mail. For this purpose, you must get information from the relevant embassy if they support this route of application or not.
  • Submission by a proxy: Depending upon the embassy rules, you can also apply by proxy. In this way, you must send a letter of authorization declaring the permit of applying on your behalf.
  • Via visa agency: A visa application can also be submitted by a visa agency if you apply through the agency

Visa Processing Time

The Visa processing time for Algeria is 10-15 working days. After the submission of documents and visa fees, the process will start. However, if there is a requirement of prior agreement from Algerian authorities, then visa processing can take time. Also depending upon the Algerian embassy, you may have to submit additional documents.

While applying via urgent male or courier, ensure to mention the entry date to Algeria on the application form. However, if the document sent via courier is lost, the embassy isn’t responsible.

If you drop the visa application in the letterbox of the Algerian embassy, it will not be processed. Also, visa application with incomplete documents isn’t processed and the departure date has nothing to do with visa processing time.

Duration & Fees

Duration

  • Single entry normal – 90 days – valid for 3 months
  • Single entry normal – 30 days – valid for 3 months

The maximum period of stay in Algeria is 180 days and applicants should not enter Algeria before the entry date.

Fees

There is not a set standard fee for an Algerian work visa. It varies from country to country. To get the information about the exact fees for an Algerian work visa, the applicant should consult the relative Algerian embassy or consulate office dealing with that specific region.

Also, the fees depend upon the type of visa e.g. single entry, multiple entry, short stay, or long stay. Also, there are different payment methods for different routes of application. While applying in person, the applicant may have to pay in cash and if the applicant sends the documents by courier, the payment will be transferred via bank account.

Extension

The duration of a work visa for Algeria is three months normally and the exit date is mentioned on the visa. However, it’s possible to extend the visa beyond the date. For extension, you have to apply 15 days before the expiry of the original visa. Application for extension should be submitted at the foreigner’s office in Algeria with a valid reason and invitation from an Algerian host.

The Algerian citizen who is invited, should write the invitation and be present with you at the time of application for extension.  Algerian administration has all the rights to evaluate the reasons and make up the decision accordingly.
