Dublin City University is a university located on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It was founded in 1975 as the National Institute for Higher Education and was elevated to university status in September 1989. This university provides advanced education and research in science, technology and health departments. DCU has established the first faculty of education in an Irish university. DCU has five main faculties offering over 70 academic programs: Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Science and Health, Engineering and Computing, and Business School.

Since the inception of Dublin City University, it has valued and strengthened its relationship with industry and business. Graduates of DCU contribute positively to both society and the workplace. Inclusivity is at the core of the university. This university is a strong promoter of spreading access to 3rd level education with a strong picture from a distance, mature learners, and non-standard access class to higher education.

Dublin City University has four strategic principles which support and inform its activity: Transformation, Translation, Engagement, and Enterprise. Students

Dublin City University has a student body of over 17,000 students and over 80,000 alumni worldwide. 22 % of the students studying at Dublin City University are international.

The Student Union of DCU run many social events for students to explore and interact with the local community. Students also visit other areas of Dublin to see the social aspects of the city. Dublin City University has over 140 societies and clubs which cater to different interests, hobbies, and passions.

At DCU, it has over 40 sports societies and clubs. Sports facilities in Dublin City University include a superb sports centre with 25 meters pool, Sports Arena, basketball, 4 grass pitches and 5 lane sprint tracks.

Accommodation

Dublin City University provides a range of accommodations for its students. Accommodation blocks are located across 3 campus locations. They have a range of shared and private living, single and double rooms with communal housing. Each campus is convenient and accessible by bus, cycling, or walking.

Res Life Program is introduced by the university, which helps students to connect with peers in a meaningful and friendly way as a part of their time in campus housing.
