ABOUT

Spread over 1,400 hectares of land, Queen's University is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario. The University was established in 1841 via a royal charter from Queen Victoria. During the first eleven years, the college relocated numerous times before establishing its current location. The University is spread over eight faculties and offers up to doctoral-level studies in over 125 programs. 

This University is one of the oldest degree-granting institutes in Canada. Queen's University has influenced higher education in the country since 1841. It has a community of 25,000 scientists, scholars, artists, and students from around the globe who are passionate about their cause and committed to making a difference in te world.

For its internationally recognized distinctive integration of research and teaching, Queen's University is famous among students worldwide. This University is well known for its curriculum, community, and the imaginative and innovative outlook of its staff and students. 

STUDENTS

Queens University is home to around 24,000 students. Moreover, 3,000 of these students are international, from more than 90 countries. These students receive the University's numerous scholarships and financial assistance programs.

The Student Life Centre is the department which provides social, cultural, and academic governance to students. This centre organizes all recreational and entertainment activities. It consists of JDUC (John Deutsch University Centre), Carruthers Hall, Grey House and the non-athletic sections of Queen's Centre. The JDUC contains the offices of several student organizations, including the Society of Graduate and Professionals Students (SGPS), Alma Mater Society of Queen's University (AMS), and retail food services.

The organizations and clubs here cover various interests, including academic, religion, culture, recreation, and social issues. Queen's Debating Club is the oldest club, formed in 1843 as the Dialectic Society. Queen's student marching band was founded in 1905.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Queen's University offers residences to over 4,500 students at 17 residences. These students hail from Canada and from all over the world. According to an estimate, more than 90% of the students are from outside Kingston.

Victoria Hall is the major student residence at Queen's University. Two groups represent residents in this housing: the Main Campus Residents Council represents the main campus, and Jean Royce Council represents the university's west campus. In 2013 both councils were merged into one organization called Residence Society (ResSoc).

If you want to live off-campus, most of the residences in the surrounding area are owned by Queen's. So, you get to spend time with people from all over the world.
