Texas A&M University owns the title of the first public higher education institution in Texas, founded in 1876. TAMU is a dedicated institute for developing, discovering, communicating, and applying knowledge. This institution follows the mission to provide top-notch quality education in their undergraduate and graduate programs and provide new aspects of understanding through their research and creativity.

Texas A&M hold a place of preeminence among other public universities by respecting its traditions and history. This University prepares its students to assume roles in leadership, service, and responsibility to society. TAMU’s student body is the largest in the United States. Its Alumni, Students and sports team compete in eighteen varsity sports.

TAMU offers more than 130 courses of study degrees through its 21 research institutes and 17 colleges. Texas A&M has two branch campuses in Galveston, Texas and one in Qatar.

In the 2021 Fall Semester, Texas A&M was the most prominent American University, with an enrolment of 72,982 students in its 17 academic colleges. According to U.S. News, TAMU has a student-teacher ratio of 19:1. This institute reports that in 2019 here 4-year graduation rate was 59%, and the 6-year graduation rate was 81.7%.

College of Engineering in TAMU has the largest enrollment of 29.6%, Liberal Arts and Agriculture and Life Sciences have 12% and 11% enrolling of students. The other colleges like Business School have an enrollment of 9%, College of Science enrolled 6% and remaining schools have less than 5% in each.

Texas A&M University has the seventh-highest total enrolling National Merit scholars in the U.S. and third among the public universities. In 2021, about 72% of students received 810-million-dollar financial aid. The admission rate for students who applied to TAMU was about 63% in 2020. 

ACCOMMODATION

On-Campus housing at Texas A&M University is home to 11,000 students. About 20% of the student body is living in campus housing. These students come from diverse backgrounds and interests, which leads to the formation of a multi-cultural environment. TAMU has two distinct housing sections; these are on two opposite sides of the campus; one is the Northern side residence halls, and the other is south side residence hall. Here at TAMU, you can find different types of housing options like both single bedrooms and apartments.
