All RSOs from the University of Chicago Model UN to Scavenger Hunt, in addition to sports clubs, art clubs, academic teams and more, are funded by the University of Chicago's Student Government. This Student Government consists of undergraduate and graduate students elected to represent the members from their respective academic units. The annual budget for this government is greater than 2 million USD.
On-campus undergraduate students engage in a house system. Each student is given to one of the University's 7 residential hall buildings. A smaller community is termed a "house" within that residence hall in the house system. There are 39 houses, each with an average of 70 pupils.
These Houses are well known for their enthusiastic participation in university events such as yearly events such as the Kuvia, Homecoming Banner Competition and Scav Hunt. When there is friendly competition anywhere in the university, you can find these houses there.
House events offer many events on the community level, which include gatherings for barbeques, bonfires, restaurant trips downtown, guest lectures, community service outing, Super Bowl parties, movie nights, Scrabble tournaments and trips to Chicago.
