About

Yonsei University is a private institute in Seoul, South Korea. It is a member of the "SKY" universities. It is considered one of the three most notable institutions in the country and is notably recognized in the studies of business administration and medicine. This university operates its main campus in Seoul and offers postgraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in English and Korean. The university's Medical School dates to 1885, when the first modern hospital to practice Western medicine, Gwanghyewon, was established.

Being Korea's oldest private institute, it was first established by Christian missionaries. Yonsei University's mission is to educate leaders who will contribute to the spirit of truth, freedom, and humanity. University's main campus is a natural setting located minutes away from the political, cultural, and economic centers of Seoul's metropolitan downtown. There are 22 colleges, 18 graduate schools, and 133 subsidiary instituwzztions hosting a selective pool of students from worldwide.

Students

The student body of Yonsei University consists of 26,731 undergraduate and 11,994 graduate students, 6,788 staff, 4,518 faculty members, and 257,931 alumni. The several degree programs, including ASD, UIC, and GSIS, have extensive tuition scholarships for international students that cover all tuition fees and accommodations.

Being a missionary school, on campus, it is strictly forbidden by Yonsei University's code of conduct to discriminate against students from the non-Christian background. Yet being a missionary school, it is mandatory for all undergraduate students to attend chapel every week for 4 semesters to qualify for graduation.

The university has more than 100 clubs. One of the major and oldest clubs of the university is ALC (AFKN Listener's Club). This is a major club for exchange students; it has the biggest club room. This society organizes various activities, and ALC plays dramas with foreign students.

This institute is also a member of KUSF (Korea University Sports Federation), and its men's soccer, baseball, ice hockey, and basketball team participate in KUSF U-League.

Accommodation

At Yonsei University, students are accommodated in SK Global House & International House. These residences have space for 880 students. SK Global House can house 581 students and offer both double and single rooms, while SK International House has space for 232 students. Gukje Haksa, the international student dormitories, houses students from worldwide in a diverse and multicultural atmosphere.
