The Japan Business Visa is a Short Stay Visa that allows the holder to carry out business or corporate activities in Japan. It is a single entry visa. However, citizens of some nationalities can get a multi-entry purpose visa.

Eligibility

You will need a Japan Business Visa, if:

  • you are from a region that is subject to Japan Visa requirements.
  • visiting Japan for business reasons. such as attending a meeting or conference, carrying out business negotiations or agreements, etc.

Documents

The required document differs depending on the nationality, travel purpose etc., of the applicant. You can refer to your local Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General website for details. The following documents are required:

  • Passport
  • Business Visa Application Form.
  • Photographs
  • Letter of Invitation from Japanese Company.
  • Flight Itinerary
  • Letter of Guarantee from Company in Japan.
  • Schedule of Stay
  • Evidence of Sufficient Financial Funds.

Process

Apply at the Japanese Embassy/Consulate with the jurisdiction, and prepare your documents and application well. 

How to Apply

  • To schedule an appointment, contact the Embassy/Consulate/Travel Agency. 
  • Gather the necessary documentation for a Japan Business Visa. In addition, the inviting company in Japan will be required to send you several documents. 
  • Submit the documents to the Japanese Consulate or a travel agency in Japan. 
  • Waiting time for the visa application to be processed. 
  • Take your passport from the Consulate/ Embassy or travel agency. If your application is approved, your visa will be issued. After that, you will be able to travel to Japan within three months of receiving it.

Visa Processing Time
Suppose there are no issues with the subject matter of the application. In that case, the processing time for visa issuance is roughly five working days from the date of acceptance of the application.

Duration & Fees

Duration
It is a type of Short-Stay Visa. It means it is only valid for 90 days. It's a one-time-use visa that allows you to stay in Japan for 15 days. 

On the other hand, citizens of certain countries may be eligible for a multiple-entry visa for business reasons.

Fees
A single-entry visa costs around 3,000 yen, a double-entry or multiple-entry visa costs 6,000 yen, and a transit visa costs 700 yen. 

The fees are paid in the currency of the country (region) where the Embassy / Consulate General is located. 

Fees may not be required asked from you or maybe a different amount based on your visit's objective and nationality.

Extension

Japan does not extend Short Stay Visa. The duration of Short-stay visas, like the Business Visa or Tourist Visa, are rarely extended by the Japanese Immigration Offices. 

Suppose you have a long-term visa or a significant and compelling reason to remain in Japan. Such reasons may be an accident or sudden illness, so can you apply for a Japan Visa Extension.
