About

Q1 visas are provided to family members of Chinese citizens or foreigners with permanent residence in China who wish to visit China for a long-term family reunion or to individuals who wish to foster children in China (intended duration of stay in China exceeding 180 days).

Eligibility

You are eligible if you have;

  • a relative in China
  • been invited by your relatives.

Documents

Please submit the following documents for your application.

  • Original passport, valid for at least six months, with at least one blank visa page.
  • One photocopy of the passport's data and photo pages.
  • One Visa Application Form that is genuinely, correctly, and entirely filled out (Form V.2013).
  • A letter of invitation from a Chinese citizen or a foreign national holding a permanent residency permit in China.
  • Relationship proof

Visa Processing Time
There can be three possibilities regarding the visa processing time:

  • Regular service: 4 business days
  • Express service: 3 business days;
  • Rush service: 2 business days.

Express or rapid service requires authorization and will incur additional costs. Depending on the circumstances, these services might not be offered, and processing times might exceed four working days.

How to Apply
Applicants should apply in person or through someone else or a trusted agency at the nearest Chinese Embassy, Consulate, or Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC). The majority of Chinese embassies and consulates do not accept mail-in applications.

In some countries, CVASC will accept applications by mail, but there will be an additional service fee. Furthermore, please check the above diplomatic missions' websites ahead of time to determine if an appointment is required.

Fees
The visa fee starts from 30 USD and can be up to 120 USD. This variation is based on the country you are from.

Extension

It can be hard to extend a Chinese visa, but the Family Reunification Visa can be extended. However, you are required to be in China to apply for this visa.
