About

The D visa is for persons who plan to stay in China permanently. To be eligible for a D visa, applicants must first obtain the Ministry of Public Security of China's Confirmation Form for Foreigners' Permanent Residence Status.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you must;

  • have a heavy investment in China.
  • marry a Chinese national.
  • have some significant contributions to China.

Documents

Please submit the following documents for your application.

  • Original passport, valid for at least six months, with a minimum of one blank visa page.
  • One photocopy of the passport's data and photo pages.
  • One Visa Application Form that is genuinely, correctly, and entirely filled out (Form V.2013).
  • One-colour passport photo taken lately against a light background.
  • The original and photocopy of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security's Confirmation Form for Foreigners' Permanent Residence Status.

Process

Firstly, you should know that the application form must be typed. A handwritten form will not be accepted.

Visa Processing Time
There can be three possibilities regarding the visa processing time:

  • Regular service: 4 business days
  • Express service: 3 business days
  • Rush service: 2 business days.

How to Apply

  • Please send your application to the Chinese Embassy or Regional Office in your country of residence.
  • A visa submission or collection appointment is not necessary. During office hours, walk-in service is provided.
  • The applicant or an authorised third party can apply.

Duration & Fees

Duration
Within 30 days of arrival, the applicant must alter his D visa to a 10-year Permanent Resident Permit. The Permanent Residence Permit validity is five years for children under 18 who apply as qualified applicants' family members.

Fees
The typical cost of a Chinese visa for US citizens is 140 USD. However, the price varies according to the number of entries and the country that issues your passport.

Extension

This visa can be extended further, leading to an indefinite stay in China.
