Work Visa (Z Visa) China

About

An expatriate who comes to China for a job or employment, as well as their family members, are granted a Work Visa (Z Visa). To avoid illegal stay, holders of Z Visas are reminded to go through the processes for obtaining an alien resident permit at the local public security bureau within thirty days of admission. 

Furthermore, no one with a mental illness, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis, or other infectious disorders is allowed to enter China.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you;

  • are visiting China for employment.
  • must be invited to China as an employee.

Documents

For your application, please present the following documents.

  • Your original passport should be submitted.
  • You should submit the Visa Application of the People's Republic of China (V2011A).
  • One colour photo should be attached to the Application Form. The image should be current.
  • Your ID card in its original form (to be returned) and a photocopy.
  • The accompanying family members must present the Invite of Duly Authorised Unit given by the authorised Chinese unit or proof of kinships, such as a marriage or birth certificate.

Process

When to Apply
Look for the visa processing time and apply accordingly.

Visa Processing Time

Regular Service: Pickup is scheduled for the fourth work day.
Express Service: An additional price of $25 per person will be levied if you pick up on the third work day.
Second Day Rush Service: An additional price of $40 per person will be charged for picking up on the second day.

How to Apply
You can submit your application to the Consulate General visa Application Centre in the division/state where you live.

If you cannot come yourself, you may entrust someone else, such as a travel/visa agent, to submit your application to the visa application centre of the Consulate General, which has consular authority over the division/state where you reside.

Duration & Fees

Duration
This Work Visa only enables you to stay in China for 30 days from the date of your arrival. After that, you and your employer must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit for the term of your contract, which must be at least 90 days and no more than five years.

Fees
The fee for Work Visa is 40 USD.

Extension

Work Visa can be extended. To extend your visa, you need to apply from within China.
