ABOUT

The UK's Graduate visa is for international students wanting to stay in the country and look for work after completion of their studies. It provides a fantastic opportunity to start your employment journey and gain work experience. This visa was previously known as Post-Study Work Visa.

Students who have completed at least their bachelor's or master's degree can apply for this Graduate Visa. They can stay up to 2 years after completion of these studies. PhD graduates applying for this visa can stay up to 3 years.

For this visa, there are no minimum salary requirements. You have the flexibility to undertake an internship to gain work experience, or you can work as a self-employed.

ELIGIBILITY

To get eligible for UK Graduate Visa, you must meet the following requirements.

  • You must have completed the course you were studying on your Student Visa or Tier 4 (General) student Visa.
  • Make sure you are in the UK when applying for this Visa.
  • Your UK's bachelor's degree, postgraduate degree, or other eligible courses degrees that you studied on your Student Visa. These certifications must be varified by your education institute to the Home Office. However if the the automated varification does not go through, you may contact your university  to enquire about the delay.

DOCUMENTS

To apply for UK Graduate Visa, you will need the following documents.

  • A valid passport to verify your identity.
  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) that you are given when you apply for your Student Visa or Tier 4 (General) student visa.
  • Reference number of CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) sent to you by your education provider when you applied for your Student Visa. If you cannot find that, you can ask your institute to provide a replacement.


Documents you might need.
Depending on your situation, you might be asked for the following documents.

  • Proof of your relationship with your children and partner if they are also applying with you.
  • In case you avail of a scholarship or anyone sponsors you, then you have to provide a document verifying that they paid for your living costs and course fee.
  • Certified Translation for the documents that are not in English or Welsh.

PROCESS

UK Graduate Visa Application can be processed online. If your children or partner is applying, they must apply separately.

Provide all supporting documents and prove your identity. You must scan your immigration ID and BRP (Biometric Residence Permit). If you are facing a problem and cannot understand the details of the process, it is better to consult an expert.

You will be asked by Home Office to provide your biometrics (fingerprints) and photograph taken. You can do that by visiting a UKVCAS (UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services) service point.

Home Office may need to keep your passport and other documents while they are processing your application. The offical start date of your visa is the date on which your visa is approved by the UK visa authorities.

It usually takes 8 weeks to process and provide you with a final decision on your application.

DURATION AND FEES

Duration
Graduate Visa lasts 2 years when you have a bachelor's or master's degree. For PhD graduates or other doctoral qualifications the duration is 3 years.


Fees

When applying for Graduate Visa, you will need to pay a 715 GBP application fee.

You must pay a healthcare surcharge of 624 GBP per year. That is 1248 GBP for a 2 year visa and 1872 GBP for a 3 year visa.

If you plan to work in the health care department, you may get a refund on health surcharge.

EXTENSION

You cannot extend your UK graduate Visa. However, you can apply for another visa.

This Graduate Visa is not extendable.

Dependents
