About

A Work Visa is a document that allows a person to stay in the Maldives to work.

A person coming to the Maldives for work will have 15 days from the time they arrive. To obtain this pre-period, the foreigner must have a valid Employment Approval that is valid for at least 90 days from the date of issue.

Furthermore, the foreign national must present the same passport used to obtain Employment Approval upon arrival. Unless the Employment Approval stays valid, re-entry under it without acquiring a visa is possible (within 90 days from the date of issue).

Eligibility

You are eligible if you;

  • have the ability to work in the relevant sector.
  • have been invited by an employer or a company.
  • do not have some medical disorder.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • The employee's passport.
  • The approval from the employee in the Maldives.
  • Proof that you have paid the required fee.
  • A passport-sized photograph (Photo shall comply with Maldives Immigration passport photo standard and must be a recent photo).
  • Employee's medical screening report from a hospital/clinic approved by the concerned agencies.
  • Receipt of Work Visa Application (IM29).

Process

When to Apply
While applying for this visa, you must have all the necessary documents. Moreover, look for the visa processing time and apply accordingly. In this case, you may apply about a month before you want to travel.

Visa Processing Time
Visas will be finalized within 48 hours after submission. Applicants can request an online appointment to submit their passport(s) for visa submission once their application has been processed.

The visa application will take three working days to complete, and the applicant will be notified when the passport is ready to pick up. A new online appointment will be made to collect the passport(s).

How to Apply
The application process for the visa is online. You are supposed to apply, provide the necessary documents and wait for confirmation. You may also hire a visa consultant to avoid any trouble.
