Eligibility

A Germany Business Visa is only valid for a certain period. Thus, your nationality will largely determine if you need to apply for one. The visa-waiver programme currently covers 62 nations, and citizens of these countries do not need to have this document to enter Germany or the wider Schengen Area.

To be eligible, you'll need;

  • travel visa insurance
  • a valid national passport
  • proof of accommodation
  • proof that you can support yourself financially.
  • a business partner in Germany must invite you.

Documents

The following set of documents is needed to obtain a Business Visa for Germany.

  • Short-stay visa application form 
  • Declaration of Accuracy of Information
  • Two identical photographs 
  • A passport must be valid for a minimum of three months beyond the duration of your intended stay in Germany and the entire Schengen Zone and be no older than ten years.
  • Proof that you have health insurance that will pay at least 30,000 euros in medical expenses.
  • A certificate proving you have health insurance that will pay at least 30,000 euros in medical expenses.
  • Proof of civil status such as a children's birth certificate, marriage certificate, and, if appropriate, a spouse's death certificate.
  • If on job, then the last three months' worth of payslips or employment contract.
  • A certificate of proprietorship or other ownership documentation, such as a land title or a sales form, is required if self-employed.
  • Business references
  • Bank statements over the previous three months for your organisation.
  • Invitation letter from a business partner in Germany which should be written in English- or German-language.
  • A complete list of your business meeting times (for stays over 30 days only).

Process

Like all other German visas, a Business Schengen Visa requires the same application procedure. You can apply six months before your travel and no later than three weeks before departure. Applying should be done at the local German embassy or consulate.

Applying three months before you want to depart for business is preferable.

Visa Processing Time
Suppose the embassy is currently receiving a large number of applications. In that case, there may be delays in processing your application, or it may be delayed due to your unique circumstance. You should apply three weeks before your trip at the latest because the visa application procedure takes 10 to 15 days to complete.

A German Business Visa's expiration date is determined by the embassy that issued it. The embassy might grant you a this visa, which might be one of the following: 

Single entry: This allows you to enter Germany just once and stay there for the 10 days that are mentioned on your visa. 

Multiple entry: It allows you to enter Germany more than once during a specific time frame. A multiple-entry visa with a validity of at least a year is also an option. In these situations, you should be careful not to break the 90-days every six-month rule, which states that whenever you want to travel to Germany, you only have to check back and determine whether you spent more than 90 days in the Schengen Area over the previous 180 days.

In these cases, you must be careful not to violate the 90-days-every-six-months rule. It specifies that every time you visit Germany, you must check to see if you spent more than 90 days in the Schengen Area in the previous 180 days.

Extension

An applicant would need to apply for a fresh visa. Therefore a visa renewal is not possible unless there are exceptional circumstances.
