About

Express Entry is a digital system for managing skilled worker immigration applications. It administers three immigration programmes:

Canadian Experience Class
This one is for those skilled workers who have gained Canadian work experience. Their work experience must have been gained in the three years before they apply.

Federal Skilled Worker Program
It is specifically for those skilled workers who have foreign work experience. They must meet the criteria for education and other factors.

Federal Skilled Trades Program
The program is for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade. They must have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, you must:

  • meet the required language levels in reading, writing, listening or speaking.
  • have the required experience for any program under any Express entry. This experience is gained through a temporary visa.

What is the ideal Express Entry candidate?

  • Minimum of 3 years of skilled job experience.
  • You must be less than 30. 
  • Have a minimum of two Bachelor's degrees or a Master's degree. 
  • Possess medium to high English and/or French language proficiency (Canadian Language Benchmark [CLB] level nine or higher).

 

Documents

You are not required to upload documents to submit a profile. But, you may require information from some or all of the following documents:

  • Your passport and other travel documents.
  • Language test results
  • Proof of the educational credential assessment report for immigration if you’re applying through the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
  • Job offer letter from a Canadian employer (if you have one)
  • Work experience proof.
  • Proof of funds

Process

Firstly, you need to submit your profile to the Express Entry pool. You will be ranked according to several factors. A permanent residence is also offered to the top candidates.

How long does it take to get an Express Entry visa for Canada?

Most Express Entry applications are processed in 6 months or less after receiving complete application. 

Visa Processing Time
Your Express Entry profile must be completed and submitted within 60 days. Otherwise, you'll have to restart. After you've completed your profile, you can submit it online. You will be considered for the immigration program you’re eligible for under Express Entry.

How to Apply
After submitting your application to Express Entry Pool, you may be asked eligibility questions to determine the category you fall in.

 

Duration & Fee

Duration
A profile for Express Entry can be valid for up to one year. Candidates who acquire an ITA should expect their permanent residency applications to be processed within six months by the Canadian government.

Fees
The visa costs 825 CAD. But if you want to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry, you must pay 1,325 CAD. Also, you have to pay the same amount for the spouse and 225 CAD for a dependent child.

EXTENSION

The visa is extendable, and it can also lead to permanent residence. Submit your application for permanent residence 60 days after you receive the invitation.
