Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Canada

About

Visitor Visa (or Temporary Resident Visa) is the official document that must be carried in your passport. It demonstrates that you comply with the requirements for entry into Canada. Most visitors to Canada require a Visitor Visa. You may also need one if you are passing thru a Canadian airport en route to your final destination.

Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is further offered in various streams:

Business Visitor
Business travellers to Canada do not require a special visa. Business tourists should apply for a Visitor Visa, as usual and must state that they are visiting Canada for overseas business purposes.

Tourism Purpose
TRV is mainly used for tourism purposes. It lets you stay in Canada for six months. Thus, you get to travel within the country.

For Family Visit
In case you have a family in Canada you would like to visit, the TRV can be a way for it. The visa allows you to visit the country and spend a specified amount of time there.

For Compassionate Reasons
You may also visit Canada on this visa for compassionate reasons. These reasons may include attending a funeral or being there for someone going through some terminal illness.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, you need to:

  • have genuine travel documents, such as a passport.
  • have a good health condition.
  • have no convictions related to immigration or crime.
  • persuade an immigration officer that you have connections to your homeland such as a job, a home, financial assets, or family.
  • convince the immigration officer that your plan is to depart Canada at the end of your visit.
  • have enough money for your stay. Here enough money means that it is sufficient for your whole stay, be it in a hotel, with friends or relatives.

DOCUMENTS

You may need the following documents if you are applying for Temporary Visit Visa:

  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
  • Identity documents
  • Family information if you are visiting as a tourist or for compassionate reasons.
  • Evidence of relationship with family members you want to visit in Canada.
  • A completed IMM 5476 form is to be filled by the family members who apply on behalf of the applicant.

PROCESS

Before applying for a Visitor Visa, firstly, find out if you are eligible to travel to Canada. You should get the documents you need for this visa and know what to do for your biometrics (fingerprints and photos).

When to Apply
The time to apply differs according to country. It depends upon how long will it take for the visa to process. So, you should look for that time difference and apply accordingly.

Visa Processing Time
Visa processing time depends upon the country you are applying from. It is due to various factors, mainly due to the number of people applying from that country, as extra applicants are put on the waiting list.

How to Apply
You should gather documents and apply online. Also, be on time in providing biometrics. You may also let a visa consultant do the job for you.

DURATION & FEES
