Super Visa (for Parents & Grandparents) Canada

About

Apply for a Super Visa if you wish to visit your kids or grandkids in Canada for two years. It is a multi-entry visa that allows multiple entries for ten years. You may also go with a six-month-long visitor visa. But the downside is if your visit exceeds six months, you will have to go through a visa extension process.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, you should:

  • be a parent or a grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • have a letter signed by your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada.
  • get medical insurance from the insurance company in Canada.
  • be invited by a person who can support you financially.

Can Super Visa be rejected?

The immigration authorities may turn down a Super Visa application in the following circumstances: The Super Visa applicant's criminal record makes them inadmissible to Canada. Any facts concealed, misrepresented, or omitted entirely in the Super Visa application may result in rejection.

Documents

Submit the following documents for Super Visa:

  • Identity document
  • Proof of medical insurance with any Canadian Insurance company.
  • A letter of invitation from the child or grandchild. These children must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
  • Proof that the sponsor can support you financially.

Process

Applying online is the best option. It saves you from going through a courier service or visiting a visa office.

When to Apply
The visa may take up to a few weeks to process. You are advised to apply a month before moving to Canada as the time may differ for countries.

Visa Processing Time
Processing times vary depending on the visa office. Most applications for a Super Visa are processed within a few weeks or less. The time also increases if some documents are missing. Moreover, you may also be asked for an interview or some extra information.

How to Apply
Although applying online is the best option, it can also be challenging. You may have to provide extra documents or take medical tests. To get through all that without much trouble, we advise you to let a visa consultant handle the job for you.
