The University of São Paulo (USP) is widely recognized as one of the world's finest educational and research institutions. The university was founded in 1934 when several schools that had already been around came together.
Forty-two schools, 6 institutions for specialized study, and 4 significant museums make up its educational infrastructure. As a research centre, the University of São Paulo has quickly become a leader in many different areas.
It is responsible for about 20% of all academic work done in Brazil. Similarly, undergraduate and graduate programs have frequently increased their standards and attracted top-tier students.
Undergraduates at the University of São Paulo are not required to pay tuition since the University is publicly funded. It has 5,900 faculty members, of which 87 per cent have full-time job contracts.
The Campus of the University of São Paulo
USP is in the state of São Paulo, which is the wealthiest and most developed part of Brazil. It has campuses in eight cities: Lorena, Bauru, Piracicaba, Ribeirão Preto, Pirassununga, Santos, São Carlos, and São Paulo.
The Ribeirão Preto campus of the University of São Paulo (USP) is renowned for its attractive park-like location and the high calibre of its academic programs. The campus was originally designed in the 1950s with a focus on health sciences, but other disciplines, including physics, mathematics, computer technology, chemistry, biology, psychology, and education, have since been added.
Furthermore, newer additions include the faculties of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Physical Education, and Music at the Undergraduate level. As a result, the Ribeirão Preto Campus has outperformed the University of São Paulo’s main campus in research output and its academic offerings.
More than 74,000 students are enrolled at any time at the University of São Paulo, making it a big university. About 2% of the student body at this school is international. Every student at the institution has the opportunity to take part in study abroad programs across the world.
Because of its status as a publicly funded institution, USP admits 11,502 new undergraduates each year, choosing them from a pool of more than 130,000 applications. University of São Paulo has about 90,000 undergraduate and graduate students over its seven campuses in Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, São Carlos, and São Paulo.
The University of São Paulo does not have living facilities for exchange students. However, there is a directory of lodging options supplied by families and current students (as well as alumni) interested in accepting international students at their residences.
Landlords and exchange students remain in constant contact to facilitate reservation requests and financial matters.
