Self-employed Person Netherlands

About

A self-employed individual is an independent worker or a sole entrepreneur who discloses self-employment income. Self-employed persons work for themselves in various trades, professions and occupations instead of working for an employer.

A permit for self-employed people allows them to stay in the Netherlands while working on their businesses. You are about to participate in activities crucial to the Dutch economy. Thus, the product or services you will offer must be innovative for the Netherlands.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must;

Documents

Arrange the following documents if you apply for a Self-employed permit in the Netherlands.

Identity documents, including passport.

  • Provide proof of financial assets.
  • Prove that you have a genuine idea to work on.
  • You are registered in the Big-register (Individual Healthcare Professions). Only with this registration can a healthcare provider with a foreign diploma operate in the Netherlands as a self-employed person.

Process

You require a provisional residence permit to enter the Netherlands (MVV). The Dutch consulate places an emblem known as the MVV on the passport. You might not always require an MVV.

When to Apply
You should realize the visa processing time and apply accordingly

Visa Processing Time
The Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) checks to ensure you meet all the conditions and asks for advice from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, RVO.nl, part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Further, IND makes sure that you meet all the conditions. The IND has to decide within 90 days. But when RVO is asked for advice, the decision period is extended by 6 months.

How to Apply
After the appointment, you send your application to the IND in the Netherlands and pay the fees. You must do both within 3 weeks from the date of application at the Dutch representation. The application form says what documents to send along with your application. In the form, you will also find how to pay the fees for the application.

The permit is connected to MVV, which allows you a 90-day stay. It can be extended to 5 years and later to a permanent stay.

You are given several options regarding the extension of your visa.
