To get an education at a Portuguese higher education institution, you will require a Portugal Student Visa.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, studying in Portugal allows you to experience a beautiful, sunny country rich in history and culture and receive a top-notch education.
Portugal also has some of the most affordable living expenses in Western Europe.
Once your studies are complete, you can only remain in Portugal if you have a job offer. To change from a student to a working residence permit, you and your employer must fulfil the requirements for a Portugal Work Visa.
When your Student Visa expires, you must apply to switch to a Work Visa if you do manage to find employment.
If you apply less than 30 days before the student visa expires, the SEF won't accept it.
If your study programme lasts longer than three months and you are a non-EU student, a Student Visa and a Residence Permit are necessary. However, for EU students, this visa will not be required.
Suppose the study course is less than 3 months and you are a non-EU student. In that case, the Student Visa is only needed for nationalities who need a Portugal Schengen Visa. For EU students, it is not required.
The documents required for this visa are as follows.
The submitted documents must be in English or Portuguese; if not, a certified translator must translate them.
To apply, you will have to get the letter of acceptance from your university, submit your application and then schedule an appointment/interview with the Embassy, who will further guide you about the process.
