Transit Visa is provided to foreign nationals travelling through Malaysia. This visa is not necessary for foreign nationals travelling in transit as long as they stay inside the airport grounds and take the same flight to their final destination. Foreign nationals from a few countries may also apply for visas online through the Malaysian Immigration Department's e-visa system.
Only transit flights within 24 hours are permitted. The Malaysian Immigration authorities have sole discretion and control to grant permission to enter or remain in Malaysia. The Department of Foreign Affairs recommends visitors to Malaysia fully abide by all immigration regulations.
The Transit Without Visa (TWOV) or Transit pass can be granted after clearing Malaysian Immigration. Its duration is a maximum of 120 hours of a stop-over in Malaysia. However, giving Transit Without Visa (TWOV) is solely at the discretion of Malaysia Immigration, even if the applicant meets all the mentioned criteria.

You will have to apply for the Transit Visa in the same manner as the regular Malaysian visa. Specific countries' citizens can apply online, but the rest will have to apply in person through the Embassy or Consulate.

It typically takes three days for the eVisa to be processed. However, it could take more depending on your circumstances.
Duration
The visa is usually valid for the 24 hours that the traveller is in Malaysia during transit. The Transit Pass or TWOV's duration is for a maximum of 120 hours stop-over in Malaysia.
Fees
The visa application fee is around 40 USD.
The Transit Visa cannot be extended. Suppose the visa holder stays longer than the valid period. In that case, the traveller could experience a temporary travel ban or fine. To re-enter Malaysia, you need to leave and apply again.
Work
You cannot work with this visa.
Study
It is not permitted to study.

You cannot leave and re-enter the country without applying, as this is a single entry visa.
