Eligibility

To be eligible, you must;

  • be invited by an employee in Cyprus.
  • not have any criminal record.
  • fulfil all prerequisites and conditions.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • Filled application forms M.58 and M.64.
  • A photocopy of the passport.
  • A certificate of no criminal history
  • Medical certificates
  • Bank letter of guarantee valid for six months following the end of the work contract, ranging from 200 to 500 Cyprus Pounds, depending on the foreigner's country of origin, to cover potential repatriation expenditures.
  • Work contract with stamps from the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance's Department of Labour and the Registrar of Revenue Stamps.

Visa Processing Time
When the Migration Department gets all of your documents, the waiting period for a Cyprus visa is between 4-6 weeks. It can take till six months in some circumstances.

How to Apply
Under the condition that the foreign nationals are abroad, the prospective employer submits applications for the issuance of entrance and work permits to the Civil Registry and Migration Department through the relevant District Aliens and Immigration Branch of the Police.

A labor contract that has been approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance's Department of Labor must be submitted with the application. The Ministry mentioned above is qualified to determine whether there are no qualified Cypriots available for the particular profession or job in question before recommending hiring foreigners.

Duration
A Cyprus work residency permit is normally valid for 4 years. Except in the agriculture and farming industries, where the length of permit is 6 years.

Fees
A fee of 20 Cyprus Pounds is required during the application submission.

Extension

Foreigners must apply the form M.61 thru the District Aliens and Immigration Branch of the Police and pay a cost of 20 Cyprus Pounds to renew their temporary residence and work permits. Before applying, the foreign national must register at the District Aliens and Immigration Branch of the Police. Three pictures of the foreigner, their passport, and a fee of 20 Cyprus Pounds must be provided for this registration.
